GRACE Art: Cultivating a Creative Community
February 25 – March 5, 2016
The GRACE Art exhibition features selected works from students from schools participating in the Center’s signature art education program, GRACE Art. Over 40 area schools participate in this program, in which classroom volunteers deliver an interactive art history lesson with visuals followed by an engaging hands-on art project designed to reinforce the lesson. Selected student projects from participating schools will be presented at the GRACE gallery, promoting the impact of this important visual art literacy program.
Opening Reception: February 27, 5-7pm
Family Day: March 5, 12-3pm
Emerging Visions: Contemplating Community
March 15 – April 9, 2016
The Emerging Visions program offers Fairfax County high school students the opportunity to work directly with the Greater Reston Arts Center’s curatorial staff to create competent artworks that will be exhibited in the gallery. Participating students have committed themselves to the success of this project and have worked hard to achieve their artistic endeavors. This year Emerging Visions is dedicated to the legacy of Robert E. Simon, his vision for his New Town, its founding principles, and what it means to live in a planned, open community.
Opening Reception: March 18, 6-8pm
Exhibition sponsored by Hughes Group Architects
